Rugby World Cup 2011: News Zealand Beat Japan 83 - 7
New Zealand beat Japan 83-7 to move clear atop its Rugby World Cup group with the maximum points from its opening two matches. The All Blacks scored 13 tries, with 11 different players touching down. Richard Kahui and Sonny Bill Williams got two tries each in Hamilton. Hirotoki Onozawa got Japan’s only try in the 58th minute.But with captain Richie McCaw and fly-half Dan Carter rested in the hope that they can shake off niggles in time to face Marc Lievremont’s mercurial side, Henry was pleased that the All Blacks crossed 13 times; and there were 11 different scorers.Richard Kahui took his tournament tally to four with another brace to add to his two in the 41-10 victory over Tonga in the World Cup’s opening game.Rich Deane, the manager of Altitude Bar which the players visited, posted a message on Facebook defending their conduct.He wrote: "Firstly: There was no dwarf throwing - that's just not cool! Secondly: There was no scandal by any of the English rugby players that we saw!"They were great lads, not throwing the midgets, it was all light-hearted good-humoured fun!"New Zealand next faces the French on Sept. 24 in a matchup of the teams ranked Nos. 1 and 5 by the International Rugby Board. Should they finish atop the pool, the All Blacks would play their quarterfinal at Auckland’s Eden Park, where they last lost in 1994. The stadium will also host both semifinals and the Oct. 23 final.
