Manchester United Vs Liverpool 2-1- Premier League Highlights And Result- Rooney’s Brace Gives United All 3 Points

Following the suspension of Luis Suarez from the starting XI of Liverpool due to the racial abusing against Patrice Evra now the Uruguayan striker was able to play although however the tension in the match was evident.

From the moment the players entered the pitch and had to shake each other’s hands, Suarez refused to shake Patrice Evra and moments later Ferdinand did the same to him.

The actual game picked up with Liverpool taking some long range shots over to David De Gea but not causing much danger at this stage of the match while United was relying more on their wings with Antonio Valencia pretty much unstoppable throughout the entire encounter.

Both sides struggled on creating a clear cut chance on scoring and some controversial moments arrived when Luis Suarez was brought down in the own half of United by Rio Ferdinand but the referee Phil Downing made the correct decision in denying the claims of Suarez as the replay showed Ferdinand got the ball away from him without any fouls.

2nd half picked up and the goals also arrived when Ryan Giggs whipped in a corner that went into the path of Jordan Henderson but he inadvertently flicked it to Rooney who scored from close range. 3 minutes later and Wayne Rooney scored his brace for this match after Valencia recovered the ball in midfield and later slipped it to the rushing Rooney and the England forward tapped it between the legs of Pepe Reina and into the net.

With the match going in the tide of United, it looked like Liverpool had no chance of scoring but luckily for the visiting side Suarez was able to salvage 1 goal at the 80th minute but it really did not change much as United won 2-1.

This result allows United to jump past Manchester City in the Premier League standings with 58 points just 1 more than their local rivals City.
