Bus Driver Holds Down Boy, Tells Girl To Beat Him

Brenda Abdul-Mateen, a Columbus City Schools bus driver in Ohio, held a 9-year-old boy's arms and told a girl to beat him up on her school bus, police said, according to The Columbus Dispatch.

Authorities told the paper that around 3:30 p.m., Abdul-Mateen stopped the bus. She then "went to where the victim was sitting and instructed another student to strike the victim."

The victim then held his hands up to avoid being hit, but Abdul-Mateen reportedly told the female student to hit the boy again -- and harder -- while the driver held the boy's arms down.

WBNS-TV’s Kevin Landers questioned the bus driver, who shed some light on her motives.

“I know it was wrong,” Abdul-Mateen told the station. “I let them girls hit him. I knew it was wrong, but he was just a typical bully.”

Sgt. John Hurst of the Columbus Division of Police’s Special Victims Unit told WBNS that this isn't the first time the bus driver has harassed a student. Last year, Abdul-Mateen reportedly made threats to a student -- saying she was going to shoot his family.
